INLAYS IN WOOD

2 lid Jewelry case   These boxes are approximately 11" X 14" X 4" high.  The lids open from the middle to reveal a sliding tray and cloth lining on the bottom.  The tops can be solid wood or frame and panel, like picture frames. The picture above shows a solid top and the picture below shows the frame and panel construction.   They can be made either from the same or contrasting kinds of wood.  One of the star quilt inlays is shown.  A dark inlay is used in light colored woods.   No bears, orcas, mountains or other animals can be done in a solid top.

2 lid Cherry Jewelry Case   This type of box can have any of the inlays.  Some inlays need light colored panels to be seen.  Mix or match woods for bases and panels.  This box has a sliding tray and the bottom of the tray and the box are cloth lined.  About the same size as the one above.
